I was told today of Gurus Mahasamadhi. I couldn’t believe it because 2 days ago ,I had his brilliant and compassionate smile in my meditation. He has always visited me from time to time in my meditations. Although
I left gurus mission in the year 1981, I have found his compassionate company many times.
today is my birthday and I have received this notice and experience.

At the very end of the last Wednesday night meditation, on the eve of his passing Sri Chinmoy made the request that disciples who would like to could stay and meditate that night from 11:00 PM to 1:00 AM. He then asked all those who would participate to walk past him, the count was 84 disciples would stay. He then stated that there would be enough time to return home to get blankets. His final words were “Don’t sleep”.

Thank you for sharing, Shane, it gives one a sense of being there with Guru again on his last few days. I can almost imagine myself sitting amongst the group of disciples, meditating, and listening to Guru. Very sublime.

Thanks Shane for writing this. Sri Chinmoy often said he didn’t believe in retirement. In his own life, he lived this maxim to the full. Sri Chinmoy never seemed to waste, even one minute, of his time here on earth – right up until he breathed his last.
