He started playing the Indian flute in 1974, and he first played the Western flute in a public concert in Melbourne 10th March 1976. (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.srichinmoy.org\/sri_chinmoy\/landmarks\">landmarks since 1974<\/a> at Sri Chinmoy.org)<\/p>\n<p>Many have found Sri Chinmoy&#8217;s peaceful and ethereal flute music to be a great aid to meditation.<\/p>\n<p>Sri Chinmoy&#8217;s first recorded flute performances can be heard at Radio Sri Chinmoy &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.radiosrichinmoy.org\/radio\/446\">early Flute Recordings<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Sri Chinmoy enjoyed experimenting with new and different types of flute. To celebrate his 74th birthday, he played 74 different flutes from around the world.
